Parasol mushrooms in Windsor Great Park.
Mushroom season is definitely upon us.
We had a lovely lunch at The Pot Kiln. A great treat between Christmas and new year.
This is a proper country pub with the benefits of fantastic food, you must try it! The Pot Kiln is a little hard to find, but it is a gem so well worth the effort. The pub website http://www.potkiln.org/ provides location and detailed directions so I will leave it up to you!

We just had a great day out at Mapledurham House. This is a real little gem of a country estate set in deepest darkest Berkshire on the banks of the River Thames.
Do take a look at the website and if you think the house looks familiar, you’d be right. Kenneth Grahame author of Wind in the Willows wrote much of this best-selling family favourite very near to Mapledurham and used the house as the image for Toad Hall.

This classic pudding is easy to make but difficult to get right. I always fail with the meringue. I follow the recipes ( and I have tried many) but with no joy.
So please if you have top tips for the perfect meringue please let me know!
