Marmalade and other activites
Okay so I have made the marmalade - very successful.
All made very easy by buying a marmalade kit from Riverford Organics. I just added grapefruit and lemons to the basic kit order to make my dear mum’s exquisite recipe ‘three fruit marmalade’.
You’ll find marmalade recipes in most cook books or online it is so simple and really satisfying. The hardest thing is saving the pots, as the longer you leave it the better it becomes. They make lovely gifts throughout the year, if you get your stock of jams and pickles going you’ll always have a good supply of pressies and everyone loves something home-made.
My Kitchen Secret for making marmalade:
This is a really practical tip. you need to save the pips from all the fruit you use and the easiest way to do this is to cut the fruit around the equator. You’ll then see all the pips really easily you can pick them out set aside and then continue to slice the fruit (rind and all) as thick or thin as you require. This method save a lot of fiddlely work if you cut the other way. Try it .
